Party Time Fun Ha.

On saturday night some friends and I went to a fine soiree to celebrate the birthday of Tanya, I don't know her personally but anyone who has Carbuncle, Craig McElhinney and Taco Leg playing at their party gets a seal of approval from me. The party was held in a carpeted shed that was filled with people, lasers, strange lights and smoke machines. Carbuncle had promised a solo acoustic set and almost delivered it but broke into trio mode about half way through (also is an acoustic guitar still acoustic if it's amplified?) I told Dave his moustache made him look like Lee Hazlewood but he was apparently not educated on the music of the great one. Carbuncle played a great set I think. My memorex is fairly foggy of the evening. After a small intermission/toiletmission Craigman set up his pickler and looper and told me to watch his volume on his behalf and then started playing a stunning torrent of sound which much to my suprise and a strange amount of coincidence* featured some scratchy samples of Lee Hazlewood. This worked well, added to the eeriness(that's a word right?) of the vibe(?). After craigman dismantled his ironing board the mighty Taco Leg entered the arena(corner of shed). Taco Leg are quite possibly the greatest band that ever lived. Serially. This was also possibly the best show I've seen them play, Andrew requested a circle pit and thats exactly what he received. I'm not sure how to describe the lofty levels of awesome that this achieved so I'll allow someone else to:

"Guitars are brutal and they should be brutal. You can play guitar quietly and still be brutal."

Brutal.
