Golden Staph and Bermuda @ Beatroute Records 30/07/2010

I found this in my archive of unorganised recordings, this was Golden Staph's last show before Onton moved to Berlin and Jess Vincent was playing drums for them by this time as Pat fucked off to Melbong a few months before that. The massive gap in the middle of the set is because the amp Tim was borrowing from Grim Fandango crapped out, comment by Craig.
I can remember the show vaguely, still have the ugly ningaloo reef poster I nicked from the staircase.
This might have been Tim Loughman's first show with Bermuda after taking over drums in Bermuda from Patrick O'Brien, who makes tables now. Bermuda stopped playing about 2 years ago, after Gene moved up north. There are photos and maybe some footage from this show somewhere.

Beatroute closed its doors a few months or so after this gig, Fat Shans is in the shop space now,
never bought a record from either.

Bermuda @ 208 11-06-2010

Short set from Bermuda playing at 208 11th of June 2010. This was Tim Loughman's first gig playing drums with them, he replaced the then dearly departed Pat O'Brien. Amber Gempton playing bass here in the place of Thomas Rowe who was in Thailand taking happy snaps of small boys. The photo comes from the recent Crustacean cup, Tim's (pictured) team lost to a bunch of aggressive douchebags.

Incomplete show of Bermuda playing at Manhattans not long after it reopened and not long after Tim joined the band to replace the recently departed Patrick O'Brien. My batteries died during the set, rendering this boot incomplete. Listen out for guest vocalist Amber Gempton during a dutch cover.

North Perth Bowls Club 09/08/09.

On Sunday I went to the North Perth Bowls Club. I thought about writing some sort of conventional gig review but I soon realised that takes a level of effort I don't have after doing the other stuff so I'll just talk(write?) shit for a while. Gigs at the bowls club are awesome,no amount of grumpy and surreal looking old men can ruin the good times, More gigs there please! There was a raffle but Pat,who booked the whole deal, lost it. Taco Leg opened precedings like a fat man ripping up a bag of chips. They are one of my favourite bands of all time. I think they're famous now too. Their set was very tight this time, almost profesh. Brutal. After leg was Shock! Horror! who seem in a period of transition. Last time I saw them it was all "indie synth pop with shouty vocals" but this time they were down one person and were less shouty more synthy. Next came Bermuda who's set may have been their first gig, at least as far as I'm aware. V. Impressive. They covered Not Fade Away and threatened to do Louie Louie as well. Pat is brewtalll. After I drank some free beer(coopers green) I stole from Astral Travel they played. I've seen them a fair few times over the last 2? years and this was a good show. If you haven't seem them yet ask yourself why?
All in all a fine evening.
